Beginner Lace Panel Knit Poncho:

The Lace Panel Knit Poncho is a great beginner project. With the majority of the body being worked in garter stitch with a center lace panel. Lace can be intimidating to beginners but I am here to hold your hand through this project to show you how to work each stitch.

Looking through the pattern supplies you may notice that the pattern calls for a circular needle. No you won’t be working this in the round but a circular needle is suggested because of the large number of stitches. To hold all of those stitches on a straight needle you would need long needles which would not be easy to work with. Although we are using circular needles you will be working back and forth on this pattern.

Reminder about the yarn, this yarn does have a bit of a halo and can catch onto itself. Since this yarn is wound as a ball it is best to take the yarn from the outside and not attempt to make it a center pull. If you try to pull the yarn from the center you run the risk of it getting caught and ripping.

love your pattern but I’ve knit with this yarn before. Gorgeous colorways but it was the most splitty yarn ever. And felt like no drape or give. The halo is nice but that splitting was bad. I have a couple in my stash still and will use it for scarves only.
