By the time you have finished all three pieces, you will be a Fair Isle pro. Perfect your tension and technique with this spectacular set perfect for a day on the course. These knit golf club covers are great for your own set of clubs or to give as a give to the golf lover in your life.

This FREE Fair Isle on the Fairway by Marly Bird pattern includes written instruction and a charted Fair Isle section. There are three patterns included. There are two stripe patterns and a fair isle pattern for your choice.

 Golf Club Cover Pattern Details:

Skill level: Intermediate

Finished measurements: 15″ long x 4″ wide

Gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4″ (10cm) in St st

Golf Club Cover Materials:

Yarn:  1 skein Sockalicious by Kollage Yarns, 70% merino wool, 20% nylon, 10% silk (354 yds/100g) in each of colors 7815 Sycamore (A), 7808 Moon Struck (B), 7813 Sangria (C), 7811 Stormy (D), 7820 Marshmallow (E)

Needles: U.S. size 3 (3.25mm) set of 5 DPNs, or size required for gauge

Notions: Stitch markers, Yarn needle

Piece is worked from the bottom up.

Cuff

With A, cast on 60 sts. Pm and join, being careful not to twist the sts. Rnds 1–8: With A, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 9–16: With B, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 17–24: With C, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 25–32: With D, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 33–40: With A, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 41–48: With B, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 49–56: With C, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 57–64: With D, work in k2, p2 rib.

Rnds 65–71: With A, work in k2, p2 rib.

Change to St st, begin to work 9 rnds in each color stripe.

Rnds 72 and 73: With A, knit.

Rnds 74–82: With B, knit.

Small Stripes Pattern B only:

Cuff

With A, cast on 60 sts. Pm and join, being careful not to twist the sts. Work in k2, p2 rib, until cuff measures 7.” long. Change to St st and stripe pattern.

Rnds 7–9: With C, knit.

Fair Isle-Pattern C only:

Cuff

With A, cast on 60 sts. Pm and join, being careful not to twist the sts. Work in k2, p2 rib, until cuff measures 7.” long. Change to St st, inc 12 sts evenly on next rnd; 72 sts.

With A, work in St st for 1″ more.

Then work all rnds of Fair Isle chart, followed by 1″ more of St st with A.

Next rnd: *K4, k2tog; rep from * around; 60 sts. Beg top shaping instructions.

Top shaping

Rnd 1: *K4, k2tog; rep from * around; 50 sts.

Rnd 2: *K3, k2tog; rep from * around; 40 sts.

Rnd 3: *K2, k2tog; rep from * around; 30 sts.

Rnd 4: *K1, k2tog; rep from * around; 20 sts.

Rnd 5: K2tog; rep from * around; 10 sts.

Rnd 6: K2tog; rep from * around; 5 sts.

Finishing

Work in I-cord on rem 5 sts for 2″.

Next rnd: K2tog twice, k1; 3 sts.

Next rnd: K3tog; 1 st. Fasten off.

Tie cord in a knot. Weave in ends.
