Turkey Trot with Marly Bird 2019 Knitting Clue #3

Let’s bring it all home! Turkey Trot with Marly Bird 2019 Knitting Clue #3 is here.

What you should know

Of course this is a Mystery Make Along project (if you want to know more you can click the link) so I am assuming that you have faith in me and my design ability and that is why you are following along. So, thank you for that.  ????

Because I know there are some sizing decisions that will need to be made along the way I will be sure to mention little extras in the pattern I think you should know before proceeding. That way, you are not totally blind to the design.

Just like on clue #2, for the Turkey Trot with Marly Bird Knitting Clue #3 I think you should know there are still only two sizes to choose from, but there is a shorter (petite) option for the largest size.

  • If you typically wear a S, M, or L then you should follow the instructions for the S-L size. This is the first number outside the parentheses.
  • If you typically wear an XL, 2XL, or 3XL then you should follow the instructions for the XL-3XL size. This is the first number inside the parentheses.
  • If you are making the XL-3XL size but need a shorter (petite) option be sure to follow a special set of instructions below.

For the Turkey Trot with Marly Bird Knitting Clue #3 I think you should know this section of the pattern uses simple garter stitches, eyelets, and drop stitches to create the fabric. Take your time and be sure to keep track of your rows (I like to use these handy row counters).

For the Turkey Trot with Marly Bird Knitting Clue #3 I think you should know there are a LOT of stitches on your needles and as your fabric grows there will be added weight to your piece which will make the fabric stretch (gravity).

  • Make sure you account for the stretch in the fabric when it is time to measure the length.
  • It is better to error on the side of too short vs. too long.

Lastly, knitters…clue #3 has A LOT of knitting. This will take you much more than one day to complete and that is OKAY! Actually, that was supposed to be the case. Why do you think I gave you until next Sunday to finish the piece?

I do want you to remember and we all know that the crocheters are going to be done with theirs before we are done with ours and THAT TOO IS OKAY! Knitting might take a bit longer than crochet but that just means we get to enjoy our yarn that much more 🙂 So please don’t get discouraged by their progress at all. Let’s go at our own pace. xoxo

Okay, time for the pattern information.

MEASUREMENTS

The instructions are written for the smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger size(s) the instructions will be written with the larger numbers inside the parentheses.

There is a special set of instructions for knitters making the larger size but need a shorter (petite) option.

To Fit Sizes: S-L (XL-3XL)

Clue #2 and #3: The measurements are listed for each individual size to make it easier for the knitter to know what their size measurements will be.

Gauge: 12 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in clue #1 pattern, CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge. *added note: the Latte Cake yarn has a good amount of stretch, so be sure to account for that stretch when you check your gauge.*
