PLAY 4 is 16” [40.5 cm] wide 

Gauge 

20 dc by 11 rows = 4” [10 cm] x 4” [10 cm]; use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

WeCrochet Comfy Fingering Weight (75% Pima Cotton/ 25% Acrylic, 218 yds / 200 m, 1.75 oz/ 50 g, CYCA# 1 sock/ super fine): #24813 Whisker, 10 balls

SPECIAL STITCHES 

Double Crochet 3 Together (Dc3tog): *Yarn over hook, insert hook into indicated st, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * in next 2 sts, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook. 

Double Crochet 2 Together (Dc2tog): *Yarn over hook, insert hook into indicated st, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * in next st indicated, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. 

Treble Crochet 2 Together (tr2tog): *Yarn over hook twice, insert hook into indicated st, yarn over and pull up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice; repeat from * in next st indicated, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES

  • Gauge is not critical in this project. Lace crochet easily can grow depending on how you make your chains.  If your project measures larger, it will still be a beautiful project.  If Play 4 is between 16-17” in width the final shawl will be great!
  • Project is continued on the last row of Play 3 still working on the bias.  You will increase at the beginning of the RS rows and decrease at the end of the WS rows, which will not change your stitch count. 
  • Pattern is made by making short rows in the row you are working.

Row 1: (RS) Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in first st, dc in each st across to last 3 sts, dc3tog over last 3 sts, turn. – 125 dc. 

Row 2: Ch 2, skip first st, dc2tog over next 2 sts, dc in each st across to tch, 3 dc in top of tch, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in first dc, dc in each st across to last 3 sts, dc3tog over last 3 sts, turn. 

Row 4: Ch 2, skip first st, dc2tog over next 2 sts, dc in each st across to tch, 3 dc in top of tch, turn.

Fasten off, weave in ends. 

(Optional): Pin Play 4 to schematic size, spray with water and allow to dry.
