This acrylic and cotton blend yarn creates a complete shawl or wrap with just one ball! Knit or crochet easy layering pieces sprinkled with delicate pops of color. Available in bright cheerful shades and subtle pastels.

As you work the yarn will subtly change colors so that you have a beautiful color change piece at the end. Like It’s a Wrap Rainbow this yarn is made up of four strands held together. It might take a little bit to get used to the yarn structure but the color combinations and the feel of the yarn are totally worth it.

Working with Cotton/Acrylic Yarn:

Before starting a pattern you need to pick out the yarn that you will use. If you are not using what the designer used you will need to look at the weight and make up of the yarn to see if it is a good substitution.

Using It’s a Wrap Sprinkles is a great alternative when the pattern calls for a weight #2 (fine) yarn. It’s a Wrap Sprinkles can be used for spring and summer items with its cotton content. Don’t be afraid to use it for patterns in other seasons as well.

Be sure to consider the following things before using it for a project. SWATCHING is the best way to know how the yarn will act with the stitch pattern. You should swatch even if you use the same yarn the designer used, and especially if you are changing yarns.

4 Things to Consider When Using It’s a Wrap Sprinkles:

  1. This yarn is made up of 4 thin strands held together, unplyed. If your project has a lot of lace knitting or a difficult stitch pattern be sure to swatch first to make sure you like the look and how it feels to work with this unplyed yarn.
  2. Made up of 50% cotton and 50% acrylic blocking is essential. Blocking when you are finished will show you how the yarn will relax. Anytime a yarn has natural fibers (animal or plant) it will relax after being blocked, therefore changing your gauge.
  3. Because there is cotton in this yarn you may find that over time it will stretch if it is a heavy piece. That is the nature of cotton yarn, something to consider when making a substitution. TIP: Want to test out how it will stretch over time for a garment? Make your swatch and block it. Once it is dry hang it with weight on the bottom. The weight can be from clothes pins or other items. This will give you a quick look at how much it will stretch when wearing a full size piece.
  4. Due to the color changes within this yarn you will need to consider how you want to start your cakes. If you want the front and back to match exactly you may need to purchase more cakes so that you can start at the same spot in the color path.
