Decades by Drew Emborsky

DSC_1032Special Guest Drew Emborsky joins Marly for the last podcast of 2012. Drew is not just a knitter and crocheter, he’s taking on a whole new direction with tools (almost 40 of them and counting!) by Boye! Half double crochet, without hesitation is Drew’s favorite stitch for its versatility, and post stitches for their ability to make crochet do what you want it to do!

The first giveaway is an assortment of tools chosen by Marly! Leave a comment on this blog post (and don’t forget the keyword!) and you’ll be entered to win! A winner will be chosen in early 2013!

Not only has Drew created a line of tools, did you know he has also created his own yarn company, Decades! The yarn is from Peru and dyed in the United States. The colorways celebrate “Your Life, Your Colors” and the names are representative of the fun stuff of each time: Tiki Torch, Shag Carpet, 8 Track and Fer Sure are just a few! The yarn is a worsted weight, superwash merino wool.  Come February there be a worsted weight cotton available and sport-weight wool in the Decades colors.

DrewEmborsky.com has been relaunched! You can find books, the best-selling tools, and yarn all in one place! Drew is very socially savvy online – you can find him on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram & Flickr! You can also check out Drew’s Workshops and learn from the best!

The live giveaway of a $100 gift certificate to www.DrewEmborsky.com was awarded to Rohn! Congrats! An autographed booklet was also given to Annette! Congratulations!

Listeners had the chance to talk with Drew! There were fans enjoying the podcast and a few questions.

So glad Drew shared the podcast before he went on and I got to catch it live. I have to say it was fantastically ergonomic 😉 Hope I’ll be able to catch more live now that I’m following the facebook page.

How I love the ergonomic hooks! Especially after a long day at the pharmacy where I have no ergonomic foot mat, a phone cradled on my shoulder for what seems like hours in a very non-ergonomic manner, stock medicine bottles with oh-so-very-non-ergonomic lids that have to be slammed around a few times to get off. What a welcome change to go home and crochet a while with those wonderful ergonomic hooks. (I truly love them. :))

Really enjoyed the show. Drew is certainly inspiring. I am a knitter mostly, but crochet also. I do sometimes have problems with my hands going numb. I’m going to try Drew ergonomic tools to see if they make a difference for me. Great show!!

Really enjoyed the podcast, I just started knitting (have been crocheting on and off) and I love it. I am really glad the ergonomic tools are available because I have tendonitis. Just saw the cute Brussels Griffon in a sweater on The Crochet Dude’s Facebook.

The podcast with Drew was lots of fun, as usual. Being a crafter “of a certain age”, I am on the lookout for ergonomic tools. Looking forward to seeing the Decades yarn too!

The ergonomic tools look interesting. I picked up a set of the Crochet Dude hooks in the blue case last time I was at Michaels. I’ll break them out when I do the Crochet classes I just signed up for on Craftsy. I looked at the Decades yarn too. I think I like the 50’s best.

Marly- I am new to your podcast, but I am so glad to hear that you’re talking to the Crochet Dude, and to hear how much thought went in to his ergonomic products. I love crochet, and I’m glad to hear it getting the attention it deserves!

My mother was amad crocheter and sewer, though she still continues to sew her passion for crochetting has changed a bit. I believe that the reason is because there weren’t as many ergonomic tools as there are available now. Arthritic hands benefit from the kinder tools.

I found your podcast today & love that Drew has egonomic hooks! As a crocheter of a certain age, I find that my hands become stiffer sooner, so I hope to win one of his hooks! Thanks for a wonderful podcast.
