Happy Tuesday!
Today’s Super Fun YarnThing guest: Daniel Yuhas!
Daniel is the final guest on Marly’s All Male Revue, and a great time was definitely had by everyone on today’s show!
Daniel is not leaving our readers empty handed either, so please leave a comment on the blog here with the keyword to be entered to win a copy of Daniel’s book!!
Daniel learned to knit as a college kid nearly 20 years ago, and the obsession grown in him ever since. He believes that knitting is fundamentally good for the universe – every stitch we knit is an act of creativity, and he loves it when his role as a designer and teacher is to encourage that spark of creativity in his audience.
He got hooked on center-out knitting when he knit a baby blanket for his first niece – one thing led to another and the next thing he knew, he was using the center-out technique to knit a toy octopus, then lace, then socks, hats and garments. Now a few years later, his first book, Knitting from the Center Out, came out in 2012 STC Craft.
He took the show on the road and started teaching in 2009, and has appeared at the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Show, The New England Fiber Arts Retreat, the TKGA Knit & Crochet Show, and STITCHES expos, as well as numerous yarn shops and guilds.
You can find Daniel on Facebook, Twitter, Ravelry (on his designer page), on Ravelry again (in the fan group), on his website (for his patterns) and here for his book!

Daniel, your center-out creations are bright and joyful as a field of Tuscan sunflowers! A great interview!
Marly,
Found you through your interview with the fiber hooligan. You have such high energy and enthusiasm. I had to check out your show. I enjoyed this first interview I have listened to with Daniel. I love sunflowers. They shout summertime to me. And their seeds are yummy too.
Shelly
What a wonderful interview! My daughter’s favorite bloom is a sunflower, could Daniel knit one?
I loved the interview and I love sunflowers!
Marly, Thank you for the All Male Revue! Daniel, Your book sounds wonderful and you are as bright and cheery as a sunflower.
I enjoyed your podcast as usual and the interview was really interesting. I think that knitting from the center sounds intriguing to me after hearing Daniel’s description. I imagined the spiraling center of a sunflower might be something on his list of pattern ideas. Thanks Marly. I love your cheerful laugh.
loved the whole idea of knitting from the center out! maybe i could knit a sunflower!!
I am a new listener to your podcast, I am enjoying it immensely. I love sunflowers and your interview with Daniel.
As usual, I enjoyed the show. I did a Pattern search to see what came up with sunflower as the keyword. There were 5 pages! Not all the patterns had sunflowers, but interesting to see.
Just finished listening to the podcast and totally enjoyed it as usual. I had to go visit Daniel’s web site and enjoyed that too, but there were no sunflowers anywhere on his site. 🙂
I have enjoyed the all male revue. Daniel’s knitting from the center out is very much like a dry sunflower seed head.
Was it sunflower? That’s funny, I heard spunflower! I would love to try knitting from the center out. Thank you!
I’m sitting in my garden looking at my sunflowers knitting from the center out (Ok not really but it sounds like a wonderful thing to do!)
I took two classes with Daniel at Stiches South. He was/is an amazing teacher, very patient and knowledgeable. Now I want to knit a sunflower bouquet. Thank-you
I have totally enjoyed your all male review 🙂 Daniel was great and I am looking forward to getting his book. Daniel could you consider creating a sunflower pattern from the center out for your next design?
Marly, I really enjoyed hearing Daniel talk about his mathematical approach to knitting from the center out. It got me thinking of fractals and sunflowers! Looking forward to seeing his book.
Loved the podcast! Good luck to Daniel and his impending marriage! I learned to knit in March and would love to knit a sunflower afghan. I wonder if the Dahlia afghan can be adapted?!
I love your show and I also love sunflowers.
The All Male Review is a great idea and I love Daniel’s patterns. Has he done a sunflower pattern yet?
Great interview. It was a great time to snack on sunflower kernels and take a break from work.
