About Pawley Stuidos:

Husband and wife team, Amanda and Daniel Pawley, started their work together in college at Western Kentucky University. After graduation, they began the steps to create art they way thy saw fit. Pawley Studios is the current culmination of that work.

Amanda Pawley is a full time potter focusing on ceramic knitting accessories and fun yarnie mugs. Amanda has been making pots for 15 years. She took her first class in 2003, and has been working in clay ever since. After college, Amanda worked with full time potter in Florida for two years, which is where she learned more of the business side of being an artist.

Amanda’s favorite part of the process is throwing pieces on the wheel. It is very relaxing! It is extremely easy to get caught up in the process and lose track of time, very similar to knitting and crocheting. She love making functional ware, making beautiful pieces that also have a purpose.

Daniel and Amanda believe handmade crafts stimulate an emotional connection with the user. They are happiest when people enjoy using one of their pots. All of their clay and glazes are food, dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.

The Pawley’s created a production studio in the downtown square of Russellville Kentucky and have been there for about 10 years. They use this location for their wholesale business to many knitting shops across the country and to promote the arts in a local atmosphere.

Taking a look at their website you will see that they hand make everything, and they even do customer orders. One of the unique things about their process is that they live stream their creation process on Twitch.tv. This allows the customer to see the process from start to finish and you can watch your piece being made, adding one more level to the personalization.

Watching Amanda throw really brings me back! Ceramics was one of my favorite art classes I took in high school and it really is relaxing/mesmerizing throwing on the wheel. Love the personal touch she adds with the paw print on the bottom of the mugs and yarn bowls!

You do such beautiful work! How did you ever train your cat to put his paw print on the bottom of everything you make? I tried to get my cat to put a paw print on a birthday card for his dad, my ex-husband. He wasn’t very cooperative. LOL! Seriously, I would love to win one of your yarn bowls. In case I don’t, I am headed to your website now.

I love the colors in your yarn bowls and mugs. I’ve never used a yarn bowl before but I think it would be so nice to have something pretty to use while knitting. It’s fun that you get your pets involved and include paw prints on the work.

I love your designs and enjoyed watching you shape objects on the pottery wheel. I tried it a couple of times in high school, and it is much harder than it looks. I share your love of cats and like your paw prints on every item you make.

Paw print is very whimsical and definitely brings an element of fun to the yarn bowl. It would remind me of my dog, who is old and frail.
