About the Pattern:
NOTE: Before getting started on this pattern please note that I will be using larger yarn and hook than what the pattern calls for. I am doing this so that you can see the stitches easier in the video. You can change the weight of your yarn if you like, but it will impact the finished size of your shawl. If you want the shawl to fit as you see in the photo you should use the same size yarn and hook to get gauge as in the pattern.
Due to the length of this pattern I have broken it out into two different tutorials. You can see both of them below. Get started with part 1 first and then finish your shawl with part 2. Within the pattern you will be working with chain stitches and double crochet stitches. They way that these two were married in the pattern you will be able to get solid sections and lace sections throughout the pattern.
The pattern starts at the point of the shawl and continues to build new triangles each repeat of the patter until you get to the full size of the pattern. Using this method to build the shawl gives you a lot of flexibility to change the size of your finished shawl. Reading the pattern you will see that it calls for 15 repeats but if you wanted you could work more or less to fit you or the person you will be giving it to.
In part two of this tutorial I show you how to finish the body of the shawl and how to add the edge stitches around. Learn a tip on how I plan out how to get even stitch counts along the edge of the shawl. I will also show you a tip for creating a ‘lifeline’ in your border as you are place those edge stitches.
Sticking with the boho feel you will add fringe to the edge of your shawl. Mixing macrame with fringe you will see that the fringe of this shawl is worked with knots to give it a detailed look. Add your fringe how you like it best, or leave it off completely. Enjoy this first shawl project that is sure to be a new favorite.
